The abduction case of four-year-old Marie Eleni, last April, outside the kindergarten, where she was studying in Nicosia, had a happy ending. which shocked the whole of Cyprus

Her father, Torkel Grimsrud, was handed over after an agreement with the Norwegian Police and is being questioned by the Norwegian authorities, accused of kidnapping and abusing a child.

The mother of 4-year-old Marie-Eleni went to Oslo to pick her up and return to Cyprus today.

According to the mother's lawyer, Laris Vrachimis, the woman had been informed last Friday that the father was to be handed over to the Norwegian authorities, something that happened yesterday at noon.

Immediately, she said, she found a ticket and left for Oslo alone, while today relatives will also go.

Due to the fact that she arrived in Norway very late at night and given the time difference, she has not yet seen her child, with the result that developments are expected within the next few hours.

According to Mr. Vrachimis, all indications are that Torkel Grimsrud was in the wider Cyprus-Greece area all this time and was traveling on a yacht. It seems that in the last few days he left Greece by road for Norway.

An important role in the happy ending of the adventure of little Marie Eleni seems to have played, said Mr. Vrachimis, the fact that the Norwegian authorities froze his accounts, as a result of which he was pressured and forced to surrender.

Last August, a court in Oslo ruled that the father should hand over the child to his mother, while on September 13 he made it clear that the 48-year-old was not entitled to claim custody of the girl.

The Norwegian authorities are also investigating how the kidnapper-father traveled with the child unnoticed throughout Europe.
