George Takkas was re-elected Mayor of Sotira for the second five years. In the municipal elections held yesterday, the current Mayor of Sotira, George Takkas won 56,86% (1811 votes) compared to 43,14% (1374 votes) of the deputy candidate of Adamos Kaikkis.

The Municipality of Sotira was the Municipality with the lowest abstention rate (only 15% compared to the total province of Famagusta which reached 45,26%.

In total, 3937% (84,96) of the 3345 registered voters voted, with the abstention rate reaching 15,14% (592). Also, 55 invalid and 105 blank were recorded.

In the previous electoral contest with the two candidates, their difference moved to about the same level, since in 2011 Mr. Takkas prevailed over Mr. Kaikkis with 58,07% against 41,93% of his counterpart.

In a post on his official Facebook account, Mr. Takkas thanked those who honored him with their vote and those who exercised their right to vote freely. He also thanked my candidate for the decent and civilized pre-election period.

As he stated, from Monday, the door of his office will be open to all regardless of the citizens of Sotira.

He also congratulated all those who have been elected to the position of Municipal Councilor and School Superintendent and said he was ready to work with all members of the Municipal Council and all organized groups of the Municipality, aiming at the development and progress of the Savior.

He also assured that "from the very next day, he is traversing his political program, with projects beyond € 21 million that will lead the Municipality where it deserves: On the path of development."

He is the founder and CEO of Internapa College. He was a member and treasurer of the Pancyprian Association of Higher Education Schools. He is a member of the committee of the Constantinople Metropolis and an advisor to the Metropolitan on economic issues. He is married to Elena Takka and they have two children.
