Hundreds of hunters in Liopetri handed over their ballot papers, while in Paralimni, Deryneia, Avgorou and Frenaros other thoughts are made. At the same time, the British at Dhekelia bases announced that they would monitor the area with Drones.

The whole hunting world of the province of Famagusta is in turmoil.

About a thousand people gathered on Tuesday night at the Liopetri Hunting Association to express their indignation at the particularly, as they claim, strict legislation passed by Parliament last June, for the protection and management of Wild Birds and Prey.

The president of the Hunting Association of Liopetri, Costas Michael, expressed his complaint to the Government but also to the actions of foreign activists. At the same time, he called on the hunting community to hand over their ballot papers as a sign of protest against the new law.

More than 800 ballot papers were handed over to deputies from the province of Famagusta in response to the heavy bells that were imposed and which, in a few weeks, have exceeded 35 thousand euros.

They are preparing a Movement

The rest of the organized hunters in free Famagusta are expected to express their dynamic reaction in the coming days, as the Hunting Associations in Paralimni, Avgorou, Frenaros and Deryneia will reportedly convene a provincial rally to continue the protest.

The hunters, however, seem to be quite determined since the main topic of the provincial gathering, according to information, will be the establishment of the "Cypriot Hunters Movement", a decision which seems to have led to the situation in which the hunting world has recently fallen due to of very strict hunting legislation.

The British Bases will patrol with drones

At the same time, the British are hardening their stance as they will use drones to monitor the area located on the borders of the Sovereign Bases of Dhekelia.

This move, according to information from Sigma, may cause a new upheaval in the ranks of hunters, who according to the same information, consider it particularly provocative, as surveillance can not be limited to the area under the jurisdiction of British Bases.
