With the wish for a short return to occupied Famagusta, the announcement of the Mayors, members of Municipal Councils, Members of School Ephorates, Commune Mayors and Members of Community Councils of the Famagusta constituency was made today by the election commissioner Angelos Agapiou.
In the afternoon, the Mayors of the occupied and free Municipalities of the province were proclaimed at the Cultural Center of Occupied Famagusta in Deryneia.
The greatest interest was of course directed to the Municipality of Famagusta, where Alexis Galanos managed to be re-elected for a third term, prevailing with a percentage of 41,7% of Simos Ioannou and Andreas Lordou. The battle of Famagusta was judged literally in the last, since the current Mayor of Famagusta managed to prevail with only 23 votes difference from the main rival of Simos Ioannou.
Regarding the other Municipalities of the province of Famagusta, the work of the candidates was relatively easy, prevailing with a relative difference from their rival candidates.
The Municipalities of Lefkonikos and Akanthos have the scent of a woman, since Zina Lyssandrou Panagidi is proclaimed Mayor of Lefkonikos, prevailing with 54,9% of Pieris Gypsiotis, and Eleni Mylona-Hatzimichael is proclaimed Mayor of Kythros, with 63,1% of Ss. In the occupied Lysis, the victory of Andreas Kaouris was comfortable, who literally prevailed over the rival of Agi Charalambous with 71%.
All four Mayors of the free province of Famagusta had comfortable victories, who, united as they started in 2012, remain for a second term at the helm of their cities. In the Municipality of Ayia Napa, Giannis Karousos was elected with a wide percentage of 64,8% against the rival of Vassos Vassilios and in Sotira George Takkas remains in the town hall of Sotira securing the percentage of 56,8% against the rival of Adamos Kaikkis.
The announcement of the Mayor of Paralimni took place at 6:30 pm at the City Hall, where Theodoros Pyrillis is proclaimed Mayor for the second consecutive term, after he managed to collect a percentage of 61,9% against George Nicolettos.
The announcements of the Commonwealths took place at 3 in the afternoon at the Community Council of Frenaros.
Finally, let us remind you that regarding Deryneia, Andros Karagiannis remains in the city hall, who has already been proclaimed Mayor without a running mate.
