The preliminary design of the first phase of the project "Reconstruction-Upgrading of the Road Network of the Urban Center of Ayia Napa", was presented on Wednesday by the designers of the Architectural Office "Polytia Armos", before Mayor Giannis Karousos and members of the Municipal Council.
Based on the contract, the next phase of the study should be delivered to the municipality in 2-3 months, and the completed study is estimated, if and when the approvals are given in time by the necessary departments, to be ready by the end of the year.
An announcement of the Municipality of Ayia Napa states that in his statements Giannis Karousos said that the researcher who was selected after a relevant competition, has as central idea the vision of the Municipality as it emerges from the strategic planning study "Promoting the Urban Center with Universal Accessibility - Ecological-Cultural-Cultural and Sustainable Character. I dream, I aim, I create, I highlight, I maintain, and I promote the Integrated Tourist Experience ".
The proposals of the preliminary study focus, among other things, on the development and establishment of a "Brand Name" of integrated "Ayia Napa Tourist Experience" which will include, among other things, the creation of alternative and competitive tourism product of special interest, aiming to penetrate new tourism markets, maintaining and strengthening at the same time the existing ones, resulting in the extension of the tourist season.
The proposals also focus on "preserving, highlighting and promoting the cultural heritage and the medieval monastery as an alternative tourism product, increasing revenue to state and municipal coffers on an annual basis, maintaining and creating new jobs especially for the local population." , in the implementation of sustainable / sustainable programs and in the adoption of actions that will aim at changing the perception from a destination of nightlife to a destination of quality and experience ".
According to the announcement, the Mayor and the members of the Municipal Council of Ayia Napa saw very positively the approach of the study group regarding the historic center and made their own comments and remarks, which will be taken into account in the next phase of the study where more detailed design of the regeneration.
In his statements, Mr. Karousos said that "our goal, with the renewal of the image of the center, is its substantial revitalization, the stimulation and the essential revival of entrepreneurship in the center and the improvement of the local and national economy".
