The submission of the candidacies for the upcoming Local Government elections, which will be held on December 18, 2016, begins tomorrow with the claimants for the Municipality of Sotiras in the District Administration of Famagusta in Paralimni.
In his statements to KYPE, the Election Commissioner of the Famagusta Electoral District, Angelos Gabriel, stated that "tomorrow, Thursday, November 17, from 09:00 am to 12:30 pm, we will accept the submission of candidacies for the election of Mayors, members of Municipal Councils members of the School Tax Offices for the free Municipalities of Paralimni, Ayia Napa, Deryneia and Sotira and the occupied Municipalities of Famagusta, Lefkonikos, Akanthos and Lysis ".
He added that "the Famagusta District Administration is ready to welcome the submission of candidacies tomorrow, in its branch located at 71 Sotiras Street in Paralimni".
He also mentioned that at 09:00 in the morning the candidates for the Municipality of Sotira will arrive, at 09:20 the candidates for the Municipality of Paralimni, at 09:45 the candidates for the Municipality of Deryneia, at 10:10 the candidates for the Municipality of Agia Napas, at 10.30 the candidates for the Municipality of Famagusta, at 11:00 the candidates for the Municipality of Lefkonikos, at 11:15 the candidates for the Municipality of Akanthos and at 11:30 the candidates for the Municipality of Lysis will arrive.
It is reminded that for each candidacy of Mayor it is required to deposit, as a fee, the amount of € 1.000 and for each candidacy of Municipal Council the amount of € 100, while no fee is required for the candidacies for the position of member of the School Board.
Also, each candidacy must be supported by two voters, one as a nominee and the other as a supporter, and their names must be included in the electoral list of the relevant Municipality.
