The inclusion of these issues on the agenda is reportedly an attempt to clarify important aspects, while the "Geneva" issue may also refer to the composition of the Conference, although the Turkish side considers that it has clarified the issue through the Agreement. of the Dinner and the announcement issued (five-party conference).
From the Turkish side, however, it is hinted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan may not attend the Cyprus Conference, which begins on January 12th in Geneva. The decision on who will represent Turkey will also show Ankara's intentions. Except for Erdogan, no one else can take responsibility for decisions on the Cyprus issue or any other issue.
The discussion of the issue of guarantees will take place in the light of the statements of President Anastasiadis, according to which Turkey could be part of a wider group of states and international organizations to guarantee the implementation of the agreement and the stability of the constitutional class (Citizen interview, 1.1.2017). Information indicates that some thoughts from the Cypriot side are made for a scenario of extended guarantees (as described by the PD), which will include many parties (countries and organizations).
