The territorial issue, the issue of guarantees, the implementation of the solution, the economic aspect and the "organization of work" in Geneva will be on the agenda of today's meeting of President Anastasiadis with the occupation leader Mustafa Akinci.

The inclusion of these issues on the agenda is reportedly an attempt to clarify important aspects, while the "Geneva" issue may also refer to the composition of the Conference, although the Turkish side considers that it has clarified the issue through the Agreement. of the Dinner and the announcement issued (five-party conference).

From the Turkish side, however, it is hinted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan may not attend the Cyprus Conference, which begins on January 12th in Geneva. The decision on who will represent Turkey will also show Ankara's intentions. Except for Erdogan, no one else can take responsibility for decisions on the Cyprus issue or any other issue.

The discussion of the issue of guarantees will take place in the light of the statements of President Anastasiadis, according to which Turkey could be part of a wider group of states and international organizations to guarantee the implementation of the agreement and the stability of the constitutional class (Citizen interview, 1.1.2017). Information indicates that some thoughts from the Cypriot side are made for a scenario of extended guarantees (as described by the PD), which will include many parties (countries and organizations). Regarding the Territorial, there will be an exchange of views, as a continuation of what was discussed during the two rounds of Mont Peléran.

It is obvious that the maps will not be presented before January 11, based on the Dinner Agreement. It is obvious that any discussions will not reveal areas in advance, which will be presented on the maps. However, based on the discussions so far, the maps will not be far from that of the Annan plan. This results from the fact that the Greek Cypriot side proposes 28,2% to be covered by the Turkish Cypriot constituent state. The T / C side raises the percentage to 29,2%, when the golden ratio will be sought.

Yesterday, a meeting was held between the negotiators, Andrea Mavrogianni and Ozdil Nami, who discussed the territorial, property and European Union chapters. As we are informed, the first meeting of the new year took place in a positive atmosphere while nothing new emerged. The two negotiators also prepared today's meeting of President Anastasiadis with the occupation leader, Mustafa Akinci.
Today, the President of the Republic will inform the Holy Synod, in the Archdiocese, about the course of the negotiations, while tomorrow the National Council will convene.
