The Auditor General of the Republic finds serious irregularities and a "monument of mismanagement" in yesterday's letter to the Municipality of Sotiras regarding the Sewerage Council of Sotiras Famagusta (SASA). According to information on our website, in the audit of the Auditor General, serious omissions were found regarding the partnerships and contracts of the SASA, as well as the manner of their implementation. At the same time, the Auditor General through the Attorney General of the Republic is authorized to conduct unexpected audits to determine whether the SASA falls under mismanagement.
According to a reliable source, at this moment, despite the day off, employees of the Audit Service of the Republic are at the City Hall of Sotiras, carrying out audits in tenders and minutes of the Municipal Council.

The case comes to confirm the Auditor General's fears about the Sewerage Councils throughout Cyprus, after the cases of the Sewerage Councils of Paphos, Larnaca and Nicosia. It is pointed out, in his report, that the work carried out in the SASA is almost virtual, since not even the necessary work is carried out. It is emphasized, at the same time, in the multi-page report, that a possible connection of SASA with the sewerage network would "drown" Sotira in the sewerage waters.

Arrests are imminent

After a telephone communication between our website and the Auditor General, he hinted that arrests may follow, and perhaps even at the level of the Municipal Council. In fact, he characteristically stated that the Sewer System of Famagusta (SASA) threatens to drown the Savior in stench, like other "Stables of Augeia".

The next moves of the Attorney General are eagerly awaited, as from time to time arrest warrants and extradition warrants are expected to be issued before the Famagusta District Court.

Elections are expected to be called

According to reliable information, the Minister of Interior is already considering the possibility of calling early elections, if and when things are brought to justice, with the consequent abolition of the Municipal Council.
