Two young men from Russia were arrested this morning in Ayia Napa, because they were shouting and pushing the police officers who stopped their car for control, while the 22-year-old driver was driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to the Police, shortly after midnight, a 22-year-old man from Russia with a 17-year-old compatriot, a resident of Limassol, was driving his car on Agia Mavri Street in Ayia Napa, recklessly and dangerously and under the influence of alcohol.

An MMAD patrol stopped the Russians' car for inspection and they started shouting, cursing and pushing the police.

A search of one of the two Russians turned up half a gram of cannabis while the driver underwent an alcohol test with a reading of 51 instead of 22 milligrams.

The two young men were arrested and are expected to be released after being charged in writing.
