Very satisfactory traffic is planned for this year's three days of Easter in the tourist resorts of the free province of Famagusta.

Reservations and indications to date indicate that the hotels of Ayia Napa and Protaras will have a significant number of nights, mainly from residents of Nicosia, who will want to spend Easter and Resurrection by the sea.

Already, a large number of hotel units in Ayia Napa have reopened in recent days, due to the conduct of a large football academy tournament in the municipal stadiums with the participation of hundreds of young children. According to the official of the local tourism development and promotion company Laki Avraamidis, there is a great demand from tourists abroad.

"Cypriots traditionally prefer the free province of Famagusta to celebrate Easter. This year, however, because Catholic Easter coincides with Orthodox Easter, there is demand from the United Kingdom, with markets from Russia and Scandinavia doing very well. "In general, we hope that we will have an increased traffic during the holidays compared to last year", noted Mr. Avraamidis.

Protaras is full

Meanwhile, Austrian visitors are raising the occupancy of Protaras hotels this spring. Around 1400 Austrian seniors are currently on holiday in luxury resort hotels as part of a special holiday program.

The descent of Austrian tourists takes place on a weekly basis and will continue until the beginning of next May. After the departure of the Austrians, Protaras will normally enter the summer tourist season, which, according to all indications, is expected to be better than the corresponding one last year. Already, demand is particularly high and optimism is expressed that it will continue throughout the summer season.
