In a laconic statement, the General Secretary of AKEL, Andros Kyprianou, stated that the party is studying the report of the Audit Committee and not the issue of Nikos Katsouridis. He said that the discussion of the report has not been completed yet and will be discussed in the Central Committee.

Asked when the debate would end, he replied: "soon, very soon." Asked if he denies that this suggestion exists, he did not want to say anything else, reiterating that it is an issue that concerns exclusively AKEL and there is no need - as he said - "to get into this gossip mood".

"This issue concerns exclusively AKEL. "Party members will certainly be informed of the findings of the Audit Committee report, and I think such publications are unnecessary," he said.

At the same time, he stated that the discussion of the report of the Control Committee of the party has not been completed and referred to the collective organs of the party.

Asked if there was a pre-arranged meeting with N. Katsouridis today on the issue, he said that he was not going to say anything more. Asked if it concerns only N. Katsouridis or others, he said that they are discussing the report of the Audit Committee, "we are not discussing the issue of Nikos Katsouridis, I want to clarify it. What the report says let me not tell you. I repeat, we will see them in the organs of the party ".

When asked if it concerns more than one person, he did not answer.

Arriving later at the Council of Party Leaders and asked about it, Andros Kyprianou did not want to make any comment, while he did not hide his discomfort.

Earlier, a party official speaking to philenews referred to the meeting of the Central Committee on Friday to manage the issue, stressing that the issue will be treated as internal party. As we were told, the conclusion and any decision of the Central Committee will be referred to the grassroots party groups for discussion.

In its front page article, the newspaper "Politis" reports that after an internal party process that started a few weeks ago for the Dromolaxia scandal, the report of the Audit Committee blames the MP and former parliamentary representative of AKEL for his remarks and suggests its weight.

According to the article, the purpose of the Commission under Aristophanes Georgiou was to identify any responsible party officials in the Dromolaxia case and, among other things, is examining the case of Venizelos Zannetos, whom he considers innocent, a position that was publicly expressed by the party leadership.

The finding was forwarded to the AKEL Secretariat and then examined twice at the Politburo.

According to the article, until today Mr. Katsouridis has not been informed about the suggestions of the conclusion, while his reaction is expected with interest.
