By Giannis Karousos, Mayor of Ayia Napa:

A few days ago, the signatures fell between a strategic investor and a contractor for the construction of the Ayia Napa marina. Finally, the most mature project that exists today in the Republic of Cyprus begins with the best omens. Ayia Napa, as after 1974, so now, puts its own signature on the start of our country's economy.

This is a private investment of more than 220 million, which will create more than 800 jobs during construction, with a total benefit, according to a study, to the Cypriot economy of more than one billion. On the positive side for the Cypriot economy, but especially on Ayia Napa, is the confidence shown by the global investor of the project Naguib Sawiris.

The marina will significantly upgrade Ayia Napa and will add to the tourism product another important infrastructure project, which will attract tourism of special interest, local visitors and residents of high income criteria. At the same time it will significantly enhance the integrated tourism experience that we have set as a goal to provide to our visitors.

It will not be just a marina, but a real gem of the Mediterranean, with an innovative and unique design. This fact is a big bet for all of us, as we have to make sure that the development in the area around the marina will be implemented on the basis of a proper and sustainable design, which will result in the creation of an area with unique and innovative developments. that will be fully in line with the marina, the goals and the vision of our city.

On September 30, the cornerstone that will be laid will not only be for the marina, but in fact the foundations will be laid to realize our vision and make Ayia Napa the best and most cosmopolitan tourist resort in the Mediterranean. Expectations are very high, which ones and how many we will implement depends exclusively on us.
