The visit, which was the first of a series of visits that will take place in other provinces on the occasion of the beginning of the new summer season and the acquaintance with the newly elected Mayors, aimed to discuss ways and solve any problems for the better operation of all services. but also the further tourist development of the area.

The delegation was welcomed by the Mayor of Ayia Napa Mr. Antonis Tsokkos, who thanked the President of the CTO for the meeting and the interest shown by both himself and the Organization for the region. Mr. Orountiotis said that the region of Famagusta Region is particularly important for the tourism industry and stressed that with the right cooperation, hard work the free province of Famagusta can play another successful tourist year next summer.

The issues discussed at the meeting and concerning the region are the issue of attracting flights to the region, the contacts with Travel Organizers and the importance of Branding was raised so that there is a unified identity and image for the Famagusta region and the seasonality, which is special problem in the area. At the same time, issues related to policing, taxi service, eg use of taximeters, etc. were discussed.
