Famagusta: A concrete example of the close cooperation between Cyprus and Egypt is the investment of an Egyptian businessman in the construction of a marina in Ayia Napa, said Christos Moustras Touristikos, Officer A in the Marketing Department of the Cyprus Tourism Organization, in charge of the development of and the Arab countries.

 Mr. Moustras welcomed the start of the construction of the Ayia Napa marina promoted by the Cypriot company Karamontani in collaboration with the Egyptian businessman Naquib Onsi Sawiris.

As he said, the works have already started, the first phase includes the port works which are expected to be completed in three years, while the total project is expected to be completed in five years and the investment amounts to 220 million euros.

According to Mr. Moustras, the second phase of the project includes two 26-storey towers and the shopping center.

The marina, he noted, will be able to accommodate 600 boats and the developments will have an area of ​​approximately 30 thousand sq.m.

He expressed the appreciation that the whole project will significantly contribute to the development of maritime tourism in Cyprus and at the same time will contribute to the establishment of Cyprus as a quality tourist destination.
