The bill and regulations governing the new legislation on hunting and hunting dogs have been returned by the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment to the Thera Service, for a formal consultation with the bodies and services involved and to be re-submitted to Parliament in September .

In a statement after the July 13 session, and the debate on the bill and the regulations, the Chairman of the Environment Committee, Adamos Adamou, stated that “it was clear from the previous session of the body that no proper public consultation had taken place and that any consultation was informal. We concluded that it would be good to go back to the Thera Service and have the public consultation provided by the regulations and on September 21 the bill and the regulations will be on the agenda of the Environment Committee. "

The decision of the Environment Committee was accepted by the Director of the Thera Service, who acknowledged the need for the informal consultation to become formal, continued Mr. Adamou, adding that in general the bill is good, but contains provisions with which they still disagree. and parts of the public service.

He explained that the Veterinary Services, the Health Services, the Municipalities and the Communities protested that they did not take part in the public consultation and stated that the legislation contains provisions that regulate the consumption of game meat in restaurants, which is the responsibility of the Ministry.

With regard to the consumption of game meat, the Chairman of the Committee on the Environment said that the European Commission replied that restaurant consumption should be minimized.

Mr. Adamou further stated that there were protests against the imposition of fines on offenses that are now being brought before the Courts, explaining that, despite the fact that the out-of-court settlements will be high enough, opinions were expressed that there is other gravity in the infringement and other gravity with simple out-of-court payment.

Answering questions, Mr. Adamou said that the legislation regulates issues related to the training of dogs.

The dog bill will be on the agenda on September 7.

ELAM MP Linos Papagiannis said that the Front agrees with the legislation that is going in the right direction and when some amendments are made they will support them, in order to reduce poaching and hunters' rights to be in a better condition.
