A former coronavirus patient who contracted a coronavirus and spent the holidays at a rehabilitation center says today he regrets what he said before his painful experience with Covid-19.
"I was basically unvaccinated. "I was against the vaccine," Nikolas Armanidis told Mega Live News. Covid-19 he did not believe in the coronavirus. The 50-year-old spoke through the rehabilitation center, where he spent Christmas and will spend another whole month.
He fought with the coronavirus for 18 days intubated. He emerged victorious but not unscathed. "How I survived is a miracle from God," he notes.
"They gave me a 1% chance to live"
Nicholas, 50, recounts how he was visited by the coronavirus, an insidious enemy that does not warn of what will follow. "You do not take anything for granted. It comes suddenly, the earth disappears under your feet and now it's too late ". Although he was feeling well, his x-rays showed the damage the virus had done to his lungs. The doctors in Mamatsio, Kozani, had prepared him for the worst.
"You have a 1% chance of survival, you have no more. That is, if you saw the x-rays of my chest, you would think that I was a smoker for 150 years ".
The 50-year-old Nikolas is intubated and then his treating doctor Konstantinos Stokkos takes over, who, as he says, saved his life: “I am very grateful to him. Great gratitude ".
He describes the moment when they managed to wake him up: "As soon as he met, he raised his hands and said thank you. How much misinformation is there on the internet? I did not want to be vaccinated. "He said it himself as if he wanted to get it out of him", says Mr. Stokkos.
"Maybe I got people in my throat"
As the 50-year-old admitted, he was not just unvaccinated but also an anti-vaccine, with his Facebook page flooded with dozens of anti-vaccine posts. "I happened to be in denial. To embrace the exhortations of the priests. To listen to the fake news which was all a huge scam ".
A delusion into which he himself had fallen, with one post of conspiracy following another. "They are all lies and I want to apologize mainly to God because maybe with my views and attitudes I got people in my throat. "Some people may be suffering because of me right now."
He has been hugging his three young children for almost two months, with the latest image he has being through a window on the day of the pipeline. "I saw my people in front of me in a window and they burst into tears. They were crying. " The recovery phase is time consuming and painful with the first time he can not even shake his hands.
"Like a swallow that has never come out of its nest. I could not lift my body. Not a glass of water. " He started walking today but needs at least 1 month of recovery to fully recover. Through the rehabilitation center where he spends the holidays, he sends his own message to all those who, like him, believed that by being vaccinated they were going against their faith.
"Let them pray and have their little oil, but let them also do the vaccine. Let them do the vaccine, let them listen to the scientists first and then let them do whatever they want. God bless them to do everything ". His three children are waiting for February to come and hug their father again.
