The 39-year-old accused of assaulting and stabbing his 38-year-old partner, whom he had previously tried to rape, in front of their minor child, took the road to prison after apologizing to the Thessaloniki investigator.

"We quarreled over something insignificant," the Georgian defendant allegedly said in his apology, adding: "We quarreled, I escaped. I took the knife and injured her. "I did not want to kill her or rape her." He reportedly regretted his actions and apologized to the victim.

However, his allegations did not convince an investigator and a prosecutor who unanimously decided to remand him in custody.

In his statements after the end of the procedure, the lawyer of the 39-year-old spoke of an outburst of anger, emphasizing that the couple's relations have been tense lately.

It is recalled that the perpetrator was prosecuted for attempted murder, attempted rape, causing dangerous bodily harm, violence against employees, threat, carrying a weapon and using a weapon. The incident happened last Saturday in the center of Thessaloniki.

The message of the victim

For her part, the 38-year-old victim sent, through her lawyer, her own message to all women - victims of domestic violence, emphasizing that in such cases "they must be cool". As the lawyer explained, the woman's composure to call for Immediate Action saved her.

"We found her stabbed in the neck, full of blood, half-naked and on the couch while their child was next to them, a meter and a half away," said a police officer who was called with colleagues to the couple's apartment, where the perpetrator was arrested, preventing the worst.
