Snowfalls occurred in almost all the islands of the Dodecanese during the night hours, without causing serious problems, while similar weather conditions prevailed in the Cyclades islands.
The snowfall was particularly intense on the island of Rhodes, mainly in the mountainous areas that were dressed in white since yesterday afternoon. In fact, because there was a strong interest for visits to these areas, the South Aegean Region and the Municipality of Rhodes, from last night, with the assistance of the police and volunteers, closed the roads to the mountainous areas of Atavyros and Profitis Ilias and banned the traffic.
During the night the snowfall spread to more flat areas, in several of which it had been snowing for decades. Small problems were noted in the road network, while problems in the electricity supply occurred in the center of the city of Rhodes and in an area around the city on the island of Kos.
Services continue to be on alert, as new snowfalls are expected in the afternoon.
