Apple assures iPhone and iPad owners that its systems remain intact, responding to claims by one or more hackers that they will delete everything from its hundreds of millions of devices if the tech giant does not pay a ransom. It remains unclear whether the list allegedly held by the blackmailers contains valid information and, therefore, whether the threat can be carried out.

The news of Apple's blackmail was reported on Wednesday by motherboard.vice.com, according to which a group of hackers called "Turkish Crime Family" demand $ 75.000 in Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency ("Ethereum") or $ 100.000 in cards. to iTunes not to carry out their threat: to delete data from 7 million Apple service accounts (@apple, @me) on April 300th. In another communication with the news site and other media, the group states that it has data on 559 million accounts - e-mail addresses and passwords.

An Apple spokesman told Fortune that after the threat was made public, there was unauthorized access to its service servers - (for iCloud logins, or Apple ID interception). This does not mean, however, that it is impossible for valid data to be intercepted.

It is alleged that the data that the group claims to have come from the interception of 100 million accounts on LinkedIn in 2012, which could allow access to Apple services, if users make the -usual- mistake of using the same login combination / password to different services.
