Proof of a negative coronavirus test will be needed from Friday for those wishing to travel to England.
The test must be completed within 72 hours prior to departure. In some cases, fast lateral flow test results beyond molecular tests will also be accepted.
The measure concerns air, rail and ferry connections and the test will also be required by British nationals returning from abroad.
Failure to comply with the new rule carries a fine of λι 500.
The measure is also expected to apply to arrivals from abroad in Scotland and Wales, but the start date has not yet been finalized.
