The 26-year-old was taken dead to the hospital after giving birth
An eight-month-old pregnant woman was stabbed to death in London on Saturday and her pregnant baby is in critical condition, British police said.
Police were called to an address in south London at 03:30 a.m. Friday through Saturday (local time) when they found the 26-year-old woman injured.
The woman gave birth at the scene with the help of rescuers and was taken dead to the hospital. The baby is being treated in critical condition.
According to British media, the victim is named Kelly-Mary Fauvrelle.
A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Prime Minister Theresa May has been criticized for cutting funding for the police and cutting social services for a growing number of stabbings.
According to official figures, there were 285 fatal knife attacks in England and Wales in 2018, the highest number since records were kept more than 70 years ago.
"This is a horrific incident in which a young mother has lost her life and her child is in critical condition," said Inspector General Mick Norman.
