The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) candidate is leading in the Istanbul mayoral election. However, the results in Ankara show an election thriller.
According to the NTV television network, Mehmet Ozaseki was initially ahead with 51,6% with 22,5% of the votes counted. However, a little while later he lost the lead.
In Istanbul, according to the same source, former Prime Minister Binali Gildirim has 51,8% of the vote, with 24,4% of the vote counted.

There is no surprise in Smyrna as Republican candidate Tudz Sawyer leads with 58,37% against 37,4% for Nihat Zeybeki (AKP) with about 25% of the vote.
