BREAKING NEWS
A man opened fire in the middle of a road in Bastia, Corsica, this afternoon, injuring five people, local officials said. The perpetrator then broke into his home.
A spokesman for the prefecture said it was "an individual gunman".
Prosecutor Caroline Taro, who was at the scene, said one of the injured was in critical condition. Among the victims is a police officer, who has been taken to hospital.
Strong police forces have rushed to the scene to try to arrest the perpetrator, whose motives remain unclear at this time.
