Israel has sent a letter to around 20 European leaders warning that Hamas secret networks are operating across Europe.

The head of research at Israel's Diaspora Affairs Ministry warned that Hamas has a "sophisticated network of hate that operates in many countries, including Western and ultra-democratic ones."
As he said, Hamas officials and supporters throughout Europe are active and underlined that "their activity has already yielded results and has consequences."

The warnings come as fears of terror attacks intensify over Christmas this year.

The EU this week warned there was a "tremendous risk of terrorist attacks" in the coming weeks, with tensions fueled by anger over the Israel-Hamas war.

These new warnings follow the terrorist attack in Paris, near the Eiffel Tower, which left one dead and two injured.
