We all remember the role of the Virgin Mary in the TV movie "Jesus of Nazareth" that skyrocketed the career of Olivia Hasey. Like every Holy Week, this year ANT1 screens the famous TV movie, recording high numbers of viewers every year. Olivia Hassey left for England with her mother at the age of 7 and attended acting classes from a very young age, and Jeffirelli discovered her early.
The 70-year-old actress with English and Argentine roots started her acting career in the theater, but Franco Cefirelli was the one who made her established, after she managed to win a Golden Globe with the play "Romeo and Juliet".
She has 38 feature films and 11 television productions to her credit, and has even given her voice to Star Wars video games. She has won the David di Donatello Awards for "Romeo and Juliet" in 1969, but also the Golden Globe for the same work, while her last role was that of Mother Teresa.
The biggest success, however, came in 1977 in the popular series "Jesus of Nazareth" with her playing the Virgin Mary, at the age of 26 years. Olivia Hasey has been married three times and has two sons and a daughter.
