Officials, according to information from the Guardian, confirmed that one man was pronounced dead at the scene and that five others, including a nine-year-old and a 12-year-old, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials confirmed the shooting took place around 6.10:XNUMX p.m. in the northeastern part of the city and that there are probably two perpetrators on the loose. During a press conference, they said the investigation is in its early stages, but they believe the suspects got out of the vehicle and started shooting.

During the media briefing, Police Chief Pamela A. Smith expressed her condolences to those affected by Wednesday's shooting and noted that officers are working to address the recent increase in violence.

Although homicides and other types of violent crime are down 22 percent compared to this time last year, three other shootings have reportedly occurred in Washington this week, injuring multiple people.
