A committee of experts from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today voted in favor of approving the use of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine against Covid-19 for children aged 5 to 11 years.
The recommendations of this committee are for advisory purposes only, but are rarely accepted by the FDA.
If the vaccine is approved for this age group, then approximately 28 million children will be eligible to be vaccinated in the United States.
