Constitutional changes passed by neighboring country's parliament in January
The Government of Northern Macedonia issued its first announcement, announcing that the Prespa Agreement is now officially in force.
Following a verbal message from Athens announcing that the process of ratifying the Prespa Accord and Northern Macedonia's NATO accession protocol had been completed, Skopje announced that the constitutional changes that had taken place would take effect on Tuesday. by the parliament of the neighboring country in January.
Nikola Dimitrov, via Twitter, also announced that the Prespa Agreement is being implemented. "We have just exchanged the last verbal statement: The Prespa Agreement is being implemented! May today be the beginning of a long friendship between Greece and Northern Macedonia. "We can not change our past, but we can - and will do it - shape a future of friendship and cooperation," wrote the Foreign Minister of Northern Macedonia.
The announcement of the Government of Northern Macedonia:
"We announce that as of today, 12 February 2019, the final agreement on the settlement of disputes, as described in UN Security Council resolutions 817 (1993) and 845 (1993) on the annulment of the 1995 Interim Agreement and the establishing a strategic relationship between the parties, which has already been published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the government newspaper.
Also, the conditions for the entry into force of the amendments XXIIII, XXXIV, XXXV and XXXVI of the Constitution of the Republic of Northern Macedonia and the constitutional law for the implementation of the amendments from XXIII to XXXVI of the Constitution of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, voted by the parliament of Northern Macedonia on January 11, 2019, enter into force today, February 12, 2019, with the relevant publication by the government in the government newspaper.
Thus begins the fulfillment of the obligations arising from the final agreement and the constitutional changes. The initial decisions regarding the necessary measures and actions for the implementation of the above-mentioned obligations will be presented in a press release and will be published by the inter-ministerial working group, for the execution of the obligations on the basis of the final agreement ".
