A museum in Paris opened its doors to nudist visitors for the first time today, giving them specific visiting hours to tour an exhibition, according to AlphaNews.Live.

The Palais de Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art, located in the luxurious 16th arrondissement of the French capital, is the first museum in the city to offer such an opportunity, although nudists in Paris have gained other privileges in recent times.

A park in the east of Paris, the Bois de Vincennes, became the first nudist zone in the city last year, and the venue reopened this year for the summer season.

Nudists say the event at the museum, which was attended by about 160 visitors, is a novelty in one of the world's cultural capitals.

"Today the mentality is changing. "Nudists are breaking down the barriers, taboos and prohibitive mentality of the past," said Jillian Claude-Penegri, communications director of the Paris Nudist Association.
According to the Union, which has 88.000 members in Paris alone, there are 2,6 million nudists across the country.

Later in the year, a nightclub for nudists is scheduled to open.

However, this is not the first time a nudist event has been organized in a museum. A gallery in Vienna has invited visitors to take off their clothes for a special presentation in 2013 of an exhibition dedicated to male nude paintings, while a museum in Australia has also opened its doors to nude visitors.
