Little Danka went missing on March 26 while playing in front of her home in the village of Bansko Polije in northeastern Serbia, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced today that the little girl was dead.

Her death was caused by two employees of the water supply service who dragged the little girl away with their service car and then dumped her lifeless body in an area used as an illegal dump. The perpetrators were arrested and admitted their guilt, announced the president of Serbia.

The disappearance of little Danka had mobilized the Serbian authorities, but also Interpol since there were suspicions that she had been kidnapped by nationals of a neighboring state. In Serbia, for the first time, the immediate reporting system for the disappearance of a minor (Amber Alert) worked and there was a great response from the public to the efforts of the authorities to locate the two-year-old Danka Ilic.
