An 118-year-old nun living in a nursing home in the south of France has become the oldest living person in the world, according to Guinness World Records.
Sister André is also the oldest living nun in the world and the oldest nun of all time, according to a statement released since breaking the record on Monday.
Born Lucile Randon on February 11, 1904, Sister André has devoted most of her life to religious service, the statement said. Before becoming a Catholic nun, she cared for children during World War II and then spent 28 years caring for orphans and the elderly in a hospital.
