British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has called Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn "a useful Kremlin idiot" for his stance on the poisoning of former Russian agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia in Salisbury.

Johnson wrote in an article in The Sunday Times that Corbyn offered false credibility to Moscow's "propaganda" by refusing to "unequivocally" support the British government's view that Russia was behind the attack.

According to the British minister, the Kremlin is making "a cynical attempt to cover up the awkward events under an avalanche of misinformation and lies."

Johnson points out that the Russian government and state media have invented 29 theories for the attack.

"There is only one thing that helps the Kremlin and offers false credibility to its propaganda attack, and that is when politicians from the targeted countries take part in it," he said.

"Unfortunately, I conclude that Jeremy Corbyn is involved in this effort," Johnson said.

A Labor spokesman said: "Jeremy Corbyn has repeatedly stated that the evidence shows that Russia is responsible, directly or indirectly, and that the Russian authorities must be held accountable."

He added that Johnson "became resilient and undermined the government by misinterpreting what Porton Down chemical weapons experts told him."
