Moscow authorities today forced unvaccinated citizens over the age of 60 to stay at home for four months as coronavirus cases and deaths rise out of control.
Authorities in the Russian capital have also asked companies to employ at least a third of their staff by teleworking, Reuters reported.
Russia on Tuesday announced 1.015 deaths from the coronavirus, the highest number since the beginning of the pandemic, and 33.740 new cases.
In fact, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova called for non-working days to be introduced in companies to reduce the spread.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin wrote on his blog that, among the people who died in the city due to Covid-19, 86% were elderly, most unvaccinated.
Sobyanin warned of a repeat of last year's events, with an increase in cases in September and an epidemic in December.
The new rules in the Russian capital come into force on October 25.
