Seven people were killed on Thursday by unknown individuals in the Caribbean coast city of Puerto Cortes for unknown reasons, police said.
Two other people were injured in a gun attack on a car at this seaside resort about 200 kilometers north of the capital Tegucigalpa.
According to the Honduras National University Observatory of Violence, the homicide rate rose again in 2019 and is projected to exceed 42 per 100.000 inhabitants by the end of the year.
In 2018, the homicide rate in Honduras reached 41,6 per 100.000 inhabitants.
