US President Donald Trump says gun teachers could prevent school shootings like the one that left 17 dead last week in Florida

An employee with a gun could end an attack "very quickly," he said.

Trump made the proposal as survivors of the February 14 massacre demanded that something similar not happen again. Other survivors, meanwhile, have pressured Florida lawmakers over gun control.

"We are not going to talk as if there was no past," he added.

The US president also approved a proposal defended by the National Rifle Association (NRA), a powerful group of firearms.

He promised to consider "very strongly" the possibility of trainers carrying weapons.

"If you had a teacher who was experienced in firearms he could end the attack very quickly."

"A belt without guns, in a maniac, because they are all cowards, a belt without guns is," let's go and attack. "" He said.

Several U.S. states already allow guns to remain hidden on college grounds, according to the Armed Campuses website. The state of Florida does not.

Trump denied during the 2016 election campaign that he was in favor of guns in the classroom.
