Xi Jinping, as expected, was unanimously re-elected President of China by the Chinese parliament for a second five-year term.

Less than a week after the abolition of the two-year five-year term for the Chinese president, which was approved by parliament, Xi, 64, was elected unanimously by the nearly 3.000 delegates present at the annual meeting of the National People's Congress (NPC).

Journalists were in the Great Hall of the People during the announcement of the result of the vote.
