President Christodoulidis expressed satisfaction with the strategic discussion on Turkey that took place at the Summit.

He emphasized that the Republic of Cyprus set as its goal the substantial interconnection of the Euro-Turkish and the Cypriot and this, as he said, is clearly evident from the conclusions, as well as the discussion that took place.

He also stated that yesterday a positive message was consciously sent to Turkey, that is, any progress in the Cypriot issue will have positive developments in the Euro-Turkish issue.

He noted that this was done at a very important juncture, taking into account the efforts of the UN Secretary General to restart the talks on the Cyprus issue.

President Christodoulidis also indicated that the European leaders recognized the constructive role of the Republic of Cyprus and the need for Turkey to take specific steps in the Cyprus issue.

Referring to the developments in the Middle East in relation to immigration, he said that it is important that the position of the Republic of Cyprus to review the status of specific areas of Syria was welcomed and supported by a significant number of member states.

He even stated that there was no negative attitude from anyone.

He also noted that the European institutions also recognize that it is necessary to review the status of specific areas of Syria and that this will have a positive impact on dealing with the Migration.
