Unprecedented images from the "quarantine camps" in China, the Daily Mail brings to light.

Videos on social media show "quarantine camps", where pregnant women and children are stacked in tiny containers with wooden beds and toilets.

"Extensive quarantine camps with rows of narrow cans to house people suspected of Covid-19 have sprung up in China show videos on social media. "The communist country is trying to eradicate the virus despite warnings that the most contagious Omicron variant makes a Zero Covid strategy impossible, even with the draconian measures used by Beijing," the Daily Mail reported.

He added that there were a total of 20 million people confined to their homes in China, after the cities of Anyang and Yuzhou joined the 13 million quarantined Xi'an and were barred from leaving their homes even to buy food.

Anyang, home to 5,5 million people, has been in a lockdown since Monday after two cases of the Omicron variant were reported - and some of those residents told the BBC they were involved in a "large transfer" of thousands of people to camps.

Pregnant women, children and the elderly are believed to be among those sent to Xi'an camps, with experts sharing the horror of their detention in Zero Covid.

Footage widely circulated on the Internet shows people in tiny "boxes" furnished with a wooden bed and a toilet, where they are forced to stay for two weeks.

"There is nothing here, only basic necessities… Nobody came to check on us, what kind of quarantine is this?", The inmates complain.
