Despite the attention given in recent years to massive cyber security breaches, a significant number of organizations around the world continue to face serious difficulties in understanding and managing emerging risks, PwC said in a statement.

PwC has published the 2018 Global State of Information Security Survey, which is based on responses from more than 9,500 senior business and technology executives from 122 countries.

According to the survey, executives around the world recognize the significant dangers posed by cyber insecurity, but despite the awareness, many companies at risk of cyber-attack remain unprepared for such a possibility.

Specifically, 44% of respondents state that they do not have an overall information security strategy, 48% do not have a staff security awareness program and 54% have not developed a response process to breaches.

PwC proposes focusing on three key areas of preparation for cyber-attacks. He says senior leaders should personally take on the task of creating a shield against cyber-attacks. Also, that achieving greater risk adaptation leads to stronger, longer-term economic performance, and that leaders in the various industries and governments need to work at organizational, sectoral and national levels to identify, map and test, on the risks of cyberbullying and interconnectedness, as well as to promote adaptability and risk management.
