A White House spokesman said US President Donald Trump would stress to leaders of other North Atlantic Treaty Organization members at next week's summit that the United States was not "the piggy bank of the whole world".
Specifically, he stated,
"What the president will do is go to these meetings with the intention of protecting the American people and standing by our partners and allies, but, as he has said many times before, America is often treated as if it were piggy bank of the world. And that must stop. "
It is noted that US President Donald Trump has intensified pressure on some NATO member states to significantly increase their military spending.
