The Ministry of Tourism announced the organization for the first time in Cyprus of Christmas Villages (Christmas Villages) in five mountain communities (Agro, Kyperounta, Platres, Kalopanagioti and Kakopetria), which will be decorated and illuminated festively, in the spirit of the days, or Christmas carols.

The Christmas Villages will have a local character with emphasis on the uniqueness of our mountainous areas. This is an alternative to the usual initiative, which will include houses with local products and handicrafts for sale, experiential craft and wine gastronomy workshops, nature activities (such as walking on nature trails and cycling), village tours and other surprises.

The aim of the Ministry of Tourism is to offer authentic experiences to locals and foreign visitors, as part of an effort to make Cyprus a full-time tourist destination. Thus, restaurants / accommodation in the wider area have been included in the whole design, which will offer a festive menu and / or Cypriot breakfast, providing the opportunity to many neighboring communities to benefit from those of the whole event.

The Ministry of Tourism emphasizes that the Christmas Villages will operate according to the health protocols of the Ministry of Health. In order to avoid overcrowding, artistic, musical and theatrical events will not take place this year, nor will playgrounds or playgrounds operate. Also, the consumption of food and beverages on the spot will not be allowed, except in restaurants, cafes, etc. To enter the workshops, tourist accommodation, restaurants and kiosks will be required to present SafePass, based on the applicable decrees of the Ministry Health.

The Christmas Villages will operate from December 10, 2021 until January 6, 2022 (11:00 - 16:00 on weekdays and 11:00 - 18:00 on weekends). It is reminded that the public has an excellent opportunity to take advantage of the Domestic Tourism Support Plan, for accommodation in tourist accommodation in the area.
