The OAU, the European Commission, the EAC, the University of Cyprus and the KOA are the five legal entities that received the most money from the General Accounting Office of the State in 2022.

The General Accounting Office of the Republic published yesterday the payments over €1 million made in the year 2022 by ministries, deputy ministries, departments, agencies and special funds of the government to natural or legal persons.

According to the announcement, the publication of the list of financial transactions of the State for 2022 is based on the principles of transparency and equal treatment of citizens, thus applying the provisions of the Law on Accounting and Financial Management and on the Financial Control of the Republic, Law 38(I)/2014.

The relevant list includes more than 250 natural and legal persons who received payments of more than one million euros from the state.

Below we list the first 20 names on the list along with the nature of the transactions:

1. Health Insurance Agency: €837 million state contribution was given to the General Health Plan through state sponsorship, and employer contribution.

2. European Commission: €258,4 million was given for payments from own resources.

3. Cyprus Electricity Authority: €128,7 million was given for electricity consumption and a subsidy for electricity consumption.

4. University of Cyprus: €106,8 million was given as state sponsorship.

5. Cyprus Sports Organization: €47,6 million was given as state sponsorship.

6. Cyprus University of Technology: €45,6 million was given as state sponsorship.

7. State Health Services Organization: €44,0 million was given as state sponsorship.

8. Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organization: €39,6 million was given as state sponsorship and support measures for agricultural and livestock products.

9. Municipality of Nicosia: €34,9 million was given as state sponsorship, projects co-financed by structural funds and implemented by non-governmental agencies.

10. NPT Nicosia Public Transport Services and Operations Ltd: €29,2 million awarded for public passenger transport.

11. Caramondani Sesalination Plants Ltd: €28,5 million was given for the purchase of water.

12. Central Agency for Equal Burden Distribution: €28,4 million was given as state sponsorship.

13. Radio Foundation of Cyprus: €27,3 million was given as state sponsorship.

14. Cyprus Telecommunications Authority: €25 million was given for the purchase and installation of air navigation systems / purchase of services / telephone charges.

15. Municipality of Paphos: €23,4 million was given as state sponsorship, projects co-financed by the structural funds and implemented by non-governmental agencies.

16. Pfizer Export BV: €23,1 million for the purchase of medicines and vaccines.

17. Research and Innovation Foundation: €22,4 million was given as a state grant.

18. MS Jacovides & Co. Ltd: €21,6 million was given for the purchase of medicines and vaccines.

19. UNFICYP United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus: €19,5 million was given to the peacekeeping force.

20. Municipality of Limassol: €18,4 million was given as state sponsorship, amounts for projects co-financed by the structural funds and implemented by non-governmental agencies.
