The domestic tourism grant plan will be valid until November 30. 

The Ministry of Tourism, after the approval of the Council of Ministers, announces the extension of the duration of the Domestic Tourism Support Plan for the period from June 1, 2021 to November 30, 2021, excluding the months of July and August.

Following the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 23.8.2021, for the period from September 1 to November 30, 2021, the beneficiaries of the Plan are all permanent residents of the island, who:

They have been vaccinated with at least one dose. In the case of 12-16 year olds who have not been vaccinated, they should provide evidence of a rapid rapid antigen detection test for the disease. COVID-19, with sampling completed within 72 hours.

They have recovered from the virus up to 180 days before staying in the accommodation.
For the above, the beneficiaries will have to provide, in printed form, the relevant receipts upon arrival at the accommodation of their choice.

The Plan primarily aims to encourage holidays in Cyprus, through:

(a) the provision of affordable prices by tourist accommodation;
(b) the granting of part of the cost of accommodation to the citizens who will use it.

It is noted that this is the third extension of the Plan decided by the Council of Ministers, as this was deemed particularly beneficial for the tourism industry as a whole and consequently the economy and society of the country in general.

The Plan includes Tourist Accommodations (Hotels, Organized Apartments, Tourist Villages, Agritourism Accommodations), which offer for the whole period the maximum price of 60 euros with breakfast for a double room per night.

In addition, the Plan provides for the coverage of 35% of the cost of accommodation, including child charges, by the State Department.

The two nights are set as the minimum stay for the use of the above prices.

For holidays, the public can contact directly the tourist accommodation of their choice or the tourist offices to make a reservation.

Who are the beneficiaries of the Domestic Tourism Support Plan?

Beneficiaries of the Plan are permanent residents of Cyprus who intend to spend holidays in tourist accommodation, which are presented in the list prepared by the Ministry, with a minimum stay of 2 nights per room. Following the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 23.8.2021, for the period from September 1 to November 30, 2021, the beneficiaries of the Plan are all permanent residents of the island, who:

• Have been vaccinated with at least one dose. In the case of people aged 12-16 years, who have not been vaccinated, they must provide evidence of a negative rapid antigen screening test for the disease. COVID-19, with sampling completed within 72 hours.

Can European nationals or nationals of other countries permanently residing in Cyprus benefit from the Scheme?

Yes. In order to be eligible for a 35% subsidy, a person residing permanently in Cyprus must provide a copy of a recent utility bill (electricity or water or telephone or mobile phone or garbage,) at the time of arrival at the tourist accommodation. sewerage or internet or other proof of permanent residence). It is the responsibility of the beneficiary to provide such evidence. Account for real estate fees, banking situation, insurance can not be accepted.

If one does not have a recent utility bill, what else can be considered as proof of permanent residence?

Evidence of permanent residence may also be: (a) Enrollment in a Public or Private Educational Institution in Cyprus. (b) Certificate of payment of social insurance in Cyprus. (c) Certificate of permanent residence from the competent Ministry or Local Authority. (d) Yellow paper MEU1A

What happens if you do not provide proof of permanent residence?

In case of non-presentation of proof of permanent residence, the applicant is not a beneficiary and must pay the full amount related to his residence.

Does the plan cover permanent residents of Cyprus and not necessarily holders of Cypriot identity?

Yes. Covers permanent residents in Cyprus who provide evidence of permanent residence in Cyprus.

Is it prohibitive if the customer requests a room upgrade and agrees to incur the additional charge himself?

The price per room can not exceed the declared price (double room price and child charges) as presented in the Catalog that has been prepared, since the Plan sets the maximum prices per period. If rooms with a higher price are available, then these, it means that they do not fall under the Plan and therefore neither the customer nor the entrepreneur can benefit from the Plan.

What date are proof of permanent residence accepted (utility bills).

Proof must be dated 2020 or 2021. Proof of permanent residence earlier date will not be accepted.

Can a beneficiary with the same proof of permanent residence keep more than one room?

Yes, it is enough to concern members of the beneficiary's family. (eg children, parents).
