1023 passport applications were rejected after the end of the KEP

The Ministry of Interior has rejected 1023 applications for naturalization out of the 1413 pending after the end of the Cyprus Investment Program.

Speaking before the Parliamentary Committee on Finance during the presentation of the Ministry's Budget, the Minister of Interior Nikos Nouris noted that after October 31, 2020 and the end of the KEP, 390 Cypriot passports have been given to investors or members of their families.

Explaining that he said that 691 applications of investors and 722 applications of their family members for securing a Cypriot passport were pending before the naturalization unit of the Ministry of Interior.

A total of 390 applications have been approved and 1023 have been rejected after examination.

He noted that until July 31, 2021, the Ministry of Interior examined all pending applications from which it forwarded to the Council of Ministers, which is responsible for the final decision which in the end approved the 390 applications and rejected 1023.
