Authorities at Paphos Airport arrested a man of Arab origin who has Belgian citizenship.
In the framework of the cooperation of the Customs Department with YKAN, the Customs Department carried out a check on the evening of Thursday 8/6/2023 on a passenger who arrived at Paphos Airport on a flight from Brussels and found hidden in his luggage, the amount of €161.520, the which he failed to state. The undeclared cash was found separated into white envelopes each containing different amounts.
According to a post on the Facebook of the Cyprus Customs Department, the suspect, of Arab origin with Belgian citizenship, was arrested and the entire amount of money found was confiscated for further investigation in cooperation with the police authorities and specifically for the possibility of their connection with illegal activities and/or financing of a terrorist organization.
