The procedure before the Court starts at the beginning of March, in relation to the case of sexual harassment from a doctor to a patient, the Police Spokesperson, Christos Andreou, told KYPE.

The case came to light yesterday, after an article in the newspaper "Politis", which refers to a complaint last summer by a patient, who accuses a doctor in Nicosia, of sexual harassment during recovery from surgery.

According to Mr. Andreou, the specific complaint concerns August 2020, noting that the complaint was investigated by the police and registered before a court for trial.

However, he explained to KYPE that when a case is registered in court, the calls to the accused are served by a private company.

It seems, he said, "that it was not located by the specific company and when a defendant is not located, the case is forcibly withdrawn from the court, with the calls being returned to the Police".

As the spokesman of the Police noted, "as soon as the calls returned to them, they took action and located the accused".

"It was located and the case was re-registered in court, with the process starting in early March," he said.

It is noted that in a statement issued yesterday by the Pancyprian Medical Association, it states that it will wait for the course of the police investigations and the possible criminal case against its member and, depending on the development, will follow all the appropriate procedures.

Also, regarding what was published yesterday (21/2/2021) in the newspaper "Politis" in relation to a complaint against a doctor, but also his previous conviction for indecent assault and sexual harassment, the PIS notes that he was not brought before his conviction.

"Unfortunately, the previous conviction against the doctor was not brought to the notice of the Medical Council (SIS)", he states specifically and notes that the issue will be directly occupied by the institutions of the PIS, in order to follow the relevant provisions of the law.

Regarding the latest complaint against the same doctor, to which the publication of the same newspaper refers, the PIS states that "by closely monitoring, it will wait for the course of the police investigations and the possible criminal case against our member and accordingly evolution, will follow all appropriate procedures ".

Final statements for the case of A. Eleftheriou

Asked by KYPE where the investigations are in relation to the complaint of the champion Andris Eleftheriou for sexual abuse by a former agent of KOE, Mr. Andreou said that the investigation continues and some final statements remain to be taken, so that the case file can be led. before the Attorney General.
