The Police Authorities in Cyprus are trying to contact the activist, Ilias Gionis, but to no avail, the Police Spokesman, Christos Andreou, revealed at noon.
Initially, when asked if there was information that people from Cyprus were at the party where the rape allegedly took place, he replied that there were still no official complaints or information on the matter. Also, a request has been sent to the Greek authorities by the Cypriot authorities for immediate information on whether there is anything that involves Cyprus in the circuit or if any Cypriot citizen is involved in the circuit.
As for Gioni's complaints, he explained that since the morning they have been trying to contact him but so far it has not been possible.
Remarking that he may be afraid to send the data for the reasons he stated in a post, Mr. Andreou said that "the Cypriot Police, where there are complaints, is investigating. I do not agree with such claims. When we have evidence we proceed to the investigation, and we have proved many times that we have investigated for persons who were not ordinary citizens and had higher positions. "There is no way anyone can influence the investigation, especially for serious and sensitive cases like this."
