The Meteorological Department issued a yellow warning for extremely high temperatures on Wednesday. The warning is valid from one o'clock in the afternoon until 1700.
According to the warning, the maximum temperature in areas of the interior will be around 41 degrees Celsius and in the higher mountains around 33 degrees Celsius.
Seasonal low pressure and relatively hot gas mass affect the area.
Tonight the weather will be mostly clear. In the middle of the night, local low clouds and light fog are expected on the beaches. The winds will blow southwest to northwest and locally to north, initially weak and locally moderate, 3 to 4 beauforts, to later become weak, up to 3 beauforts. The sea will gradually become calm to a little turbulent, but in the southwest and locally in the north it will remain a little turbulent. The temperature will drop to around 24 degrees inland, on the southeast and east coasts, around 23 on the rest of the coast and around 20 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tomorrow the weather will be mostly clear but early in the morning local low clouds or light fog are likely to be observed, which will soon dissipate. The winds will blow mainly southwest as northwest initially weak and locally moderate, 3 to 4 beauforts, while in the afternoon the winds will become strong to 5 beauforts. The sea will be a little turbulent but in the east calm to a little turbulent. The temperature will rise to around 41 degrees inland, around 32 on the west coast, around 36 on the rest of the coast and around 33 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tomorrow night the weather will be mostly clear. In the post-midnight hours, local low clouds and light fog are expected, mainly on the beaches. The winds will blow southwest to northwest and locally to north, initially weak and locally moderate, 3 to 4 beauforts, to later become weak, up to 3 beauforts. The sea will gradually become calm to a little turbulent, but in the southwest and locally in the north it will remain a little turbulent.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday the weather will be mostly clear. In the middle of the night and in the early morning hours, local low clouds or light fog are expected on the beaches.
The temperature will remain at about the same levels during the three days, which are significantly higher than the average climatic values.
