The journalist, Kornilios Hatzikostas, spoke about the battle he waged with the coronavirus on the First Show of Radio Proto.

In particular, he stated that he viewed with a reservation all the measures imposed on the coronavirus, but it does not mean that he did not comply with them. He added that he saw some things that may have been an exaggeration and the cases were something remote, that they concerned others.

According to what he stated, he was finally beaten by the coronavirus on December 2, but initially with mild symptoms. He explained that on the 9th day the difficulties started when he started to feel short of breath. Describing this shortness of breath, he said that when he coughed he lacked this precious oxygen that we breathe so comfortably. His doctor then advised him to go to the hospital immediately.

From the General Hospital of Nicosia he was admitted to the Reference Hospital and there he was constantly on oxygen. He spoke of the other patients in his ward, describing the tragic experience of seeing him in front of him lose consciousness and the nurses and doctors trying to bring him back. He noted that they did what they could for this patient but in the end he died. He added that it will be an image that will accompany him forever.

Asked about the other patients at the Referral Hospital, he explained that they were normal people, their lives were fine before the coronavirus. He was in a very difficult position but explained that the care in the hospital was very good. "It is no exaggeration to say that it reminded me of the time of the lepers, they were very tragic scenes," he said.

He also referred to another tragic case of a woman, with whom he was transported to the ambulance, who confessed to him that "he was eight days in the intensive care unit and felt he was leaving, getting sick, seeing a cold and gray place, with many people working there , including her father ".

Concluding, he said that "the coronavirus is not a funny thing, at first I despised it but it was very wrong. It exists, it is there and it threatens us. We have to face it, we have to follow the measures, no matter how hard it is, because only in this way can we face the scourge that threatens us ".
