On Tuesday, the Police proceeded to the arrest of a minor at the Juvenile Facility in Paphos in order to facilitate investigations for an investigated case of assault against a Police Officer.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations Michalis Nikolaou, at noon on Tuesday members of the Police went to the Juvenile Facility in Paphos, where foreign minors are accommodated, for precautionary reasons. Due to the payment of the monthly payment, there were suspicions that tension would arise between them, he added.

As Mr. Nikolaou reported to KYPE, tension did indeed arise between minors and the Police intervened, while one of them allegedly threw a chair at a Policeman, slightly injuring him in the palm.

The minor was arrested, taken to the Police and interrogated but due to his age he was released on Tuesday night. According to Mr. Nikolaou, the file will be completed and will go through the Legal Service to receive instructions as to whether the minor will be prosecuted.
